Critical Reflection Questions

                                              Creative Critical Reflection Conventions

1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

I used many advertising conventions within my advertisement. I used the technical convention of lighting to highlight my product when i was doing a close up on the product. I also used the technical convention, lighting, to show to change from a "sad and musty" home to a "happy and clean" home. I used the technical convention of sound for the music as well. When I introduced the product, the music got very upbeat and drums started to play. This would cause the audience to want to look up or pay attention while I was showcasing my product. I also used the technical convention of sound in my voice. Once I introduced the product, i made my voice very high to show a shift in mood. I also used symbolic conventions. I made my actors body language bad at the beginning of the add to show sadness but, made her switch to the correct body language to show a shift in happiness. I also used written conventions. At the end of the ad i put the words "BUY NOW" in all caps so that could intrigue the audience to want to buy it. My ad did not represent social groups or issues much. It might have represented the social group of people who have allergies or the social group of people who can't get rid of smells within their home.

2.  How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed in real media?

My product engaged with the audience by talking to the audience. I asked the audience questions throughout my commercial and I used the word "you or you'll" a lot throughout my commercial which would engage the audience. My product would be distributed in real media on TV as a commercial. I would also distribute it through real media as a YouTube advertisement to get more views.

3.  How did your production skills develop throughout this product?

Throughout this product, i got much more experience being a director and creator. I learned more about which camera angles look best in certain situations. I also learnt more about lighting. I also learnt more about how much shoots you have to take to get the perfect product. My editing skills also got much better. I learned how to edit music into IMovie. I also learnt the process of doing a voice over. Doing a voice over takes a lot of work and producing this product taught me that.

4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

I integrated the use of technology by using many different devices and software to film this project. First, I used and IPhone 11 to film the project. I sent the videos from the iPhone 11 to my macbook and used Imovie to edit the video. I got sound samples from YouTube by having my computer record the sound through the microphone. I also used I-movie’s software to add transitions to the video, clip the scenes, add sound effects, etc. I used my computer's microphone to record the voice over.
