Critical Reflection Questions

Image
 1.  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? I used many music video conventions throu ghout my music video.   Music videos tend to include many long shots, close ups and mid shots. This is to create emphasis on the artist, location and emotions. During my music video, I included close ups and mid shots to create emphasis on different aspects of my music video.  The costumes vary between each R&B songs music video. In most, the actor/singer will wear fashionable clothing. In my music video, i dressed my actor up in a brand name vest so that she could look fashionable. In rhythm and blues music videos, the lighting will either be three point coming from natural light sources or or lowkey with a grey/sepia scale. In my music video i used natural lighting throughout my music video except for when we were shooting in the dark for 2 scenes and when we used lowkey lighting and changed the scal...

My Music Video

I enjoyed the process of making this music video. The planning, the filming, and the editing was very amusing and I learned a lot. There are a few things I would have done differently though. For starters, I would have started filming earlier. Maybe on the 21st instead of on the 27th. Secondly, I would have been more professional while filming. The results could have been a little bit better if I was. Since i was filming with one of my close friends,  we had a few laughs and side conversations while filming . I also wish I wrote down all the things i needed to do while filming. There were a few things that I forgot to do and if i wrote them down then I most likely wouldn't have forgotten. But, I learned a lot. I learnt that the filming process is a much longer process that I thought. When filming, you have to do so much takes so that the scene can be perfect. Also, you have to set up a lot of stuff and cut every-time a mistake is made. The editing process is much longer than i had ...

Editing Blog: Putting it all together

Image
In this editing blog, I will speak about actually editing the music video. I filmed my music video on an iPhone 11. I then airdropped the music video clips to my macbook. I used iMovie to edit the entire music video. First, I had to upload the song. I tried using apple music but it wouldn't work. So, i had the use the microphone on my computer to record the actual song. I played the song from youtube off of my phone into the microphone on the computer. Next, i started arranging the clips. Each clip was around 30 seconds so it took a lot of time to trim each video. Once i trimmed the videos down, i had to align the actors lip syncing to the music. This also took a lot of time due to the fact that my actor didn't know the words. I then had to add transitions. It was difficult to decide on what transition to use. This was kind of hard because the transitions added time and it displaced some of my videos. Then, I edited the scenes. I cropped some scenes because the angle was too ...

Editing my Music Video

Image
Editing my music video was harder than i had expected.  It was much harder than editing my commercial. To edit my music video, I used iMovie. iMovie is a very amazing editing app. When editing my music video, i encountered a few problems. First, it was a hard decision to decide what videos to use and what videos to not use. Next, uploading the videos onto my computer took quite some work and took up a lengthy amount of time. Then i realised that my actor really didn't know the words and that her mouth didn't match up with what the song was saying. This kind of messed up my video because my actors lips were not matching the song so, the video kind of looked messy. Also, it was hard to trim each scene because my actor wasn't singing the correct lyrics. So, i couldn't really match up  the scenes and the song using her lips. But, it was kind of thrilling to edit this music video. It was nice to be in the directors chair. Also, i've watched many music videos throughout ...
