Production Blog: Finishing Touches

Image
Hello fellow viewers! My group and I have edited our audio! We ran into a few problems tho. Firstly, in some of the shots, the real audio was too low. We brainstormed and wondered if we should do a voiceover for these scenes. We then decided to not do that and to just put the audio up to 100%. This slightly fixed the problem. Not perfect but it's a solution. We also ran into a problem with the song for the alarm. The editing software wanted us to purchase the song but we did not want to do that. We then decided to do a voiceover for the song on iMovie. This worked perfectly. We then re-watched the short film a million times lol. We wanted to ensure each scene was synced perfectly with the sound. We also added text for the opening sequence. This was a bit difficult because the text wouldn't align properly. This caused us to have to move everything over again. We also had to re-shoot a scene. We had to do this because the actor's hair changed and it didn't look as smo...

Production Blog: Editing

Image
Hello fellow viewers! My group and I have begun editing. All of the members within my group have some sort of Apple device. This allowed us to all use iMovie at ease. We all just logged into the same account and got to work. iMovie is such an amazing app so the editing process isn't very difficult. We first had to offload all the clips from our phones to our computers. One of my group members is using her iPad to edit though. We used airdrop to transfer the videos from our phones to the computer. Once we did that, we aligned all of the scenes into the order that they should be in. Aligning the scenes took some time because we had to cut some of the scenes. It also took some time to fit all of the scenes into the time frame we were given. After doing that, we edited the scenes. We changed the hues of some of the scenes. We also made some of the scenes very bright to add to the vision we were going for. Next, we added transitions. We used multiple transitions. Some of them were fas...

Production Blog: Last Day of Filming

Image
Today was our last day of filming. the filming process was actually kind of fun. We were able to get so much done in such a short amount of time. I'm really proud of my group and I. Today we focused on re-filming the car accident scenes. Since the last time we filmed, it started raining. This caused us to have to re-film these scenes today. The car accident scene happens a total of 3 times throughout the short film. Each time it happens something changes. This leads to her finally ending the loop. Since the scene of the aftermath of the car crash required the fake glass and blood we thought it would be best to put that on the scene after we’ve already filmed the beginning of the car scenes. this was so that we wouldn’t have to constantly be changing set with the props. Our actor for April is Vanessa. While filming this scene, we kept laughing. It took a lot of re films to finally get it right. Our group member Dru is actually an actor. While filming, Dru had to give ...

Production Blog: Second Day of Filming

Image
Hello fellow viewers! Today my group and I began the second day of filming. For the second day, we decided to focus on a particular scene. We wanted to get the car crash scenes done. This scene is when April gets into a car accident because the cake falls. After this scene, her life will start to repeat over and over. When we were filming this scene, we ran into a few issues. Firstly, the weather began to act crazy! It became extremely windy. This caused the sound in the video to be a bit muffled. This was a serious problem because the dialogue in this scene was important. We then noticed that clouds were beginning to form. Then our ultimate nightmare came true. It started to rain! This caused us to have to go inside. Due to the fact that this scene was meant for outside, there wasn't much we could do. While inside we did a bit of brainstorming. We decided that it was best to re-shoot some scenes.l We re-shot a few scenes so we could get them to perfection. By the ti...

Production Blog : Setting The Scene

Image
Hello fellow viewers! Yesterday we were able to finish the first day of filming. We got the scenes that we wanted to get out of the way done. It was truly a success. Today we will be preparing to film the scenes for the car accident. We had to get a few things to make it realistic. We had to find a smoke machine. Along with fake blood and fake glass. To make the fake glass we melted sugar and left it to cool. As it hardened, it became more clear which resembled glass. At first, it was foggy. But we came to accept this because since it's a car accident the glass does not need to be in top-notch shape. It also tasted really good. For the fake blood, we just bought some. Finding the right location to film this scene was a bit difficult. We couldn't just do it in the middle of the street. That would be way too dangerous. We had to find a street that was empty. We looked on the internet on Apple Maps. We were able to find a few streets that had little to no traffic going ...

Production Blog: First Day Filming

Image
Today was the first day of filming. My group and I were really excited to start this process. Today we tried to focus on the first few storyboards. Mainly the part when April wakes up. We filmed most of the scenes from when April was inside the house. We had to skip over some storyboards. But we will film the other ones another day. We ensured that the lighting was great for all scenes. We also tried to keep the camera steady for these scenes. This was to ensure it looked as professional as possible. We encountered an issue with the lighting though. The actor was in front of the window so she looked very dark. To solve this problem we waited until the sun went down and filmed with light from a lamp. This worked perfectly and the shots came out as we envisioned them. Then we finally finished filming. Once we were done, we ate snacks and watched the scenes. We re-watched the scenes to ensure that we didn't need to re-film any of them. Overall our first day of filming was succ...

Production Blog: Scheduling Finalization

Image
We have spoken to all of our actors about the schedule. We have all been able to set a date for our shoot. We have decided to start the recording process next week Wednesday. This day is honestly perfect. We all go to the same school so we will just drive to the shooting location together. Also, the weather is going to be perfect due to the time of year. To add to that, one of our actors has a car so we will be able to get around easily. Once we get to the location, we will begin shooting immediately. We have printed out the script. We have also printed out the shooting script. We have also put together the costumes for each scene. We have about 2 costume changes. We have packed them and when the shooting day arrives we will put them all in a bag and head to the location. We have also confirmed rides. My mother will be the one driving me home after we complete the shooting. Also, one of our locations is a 5-minute walk from the second location. That is extremely convenient...

Production blog: Planning Finalization

Image
Hello fellow viewers! My group and I are ready to film! We have finalized the schedule. We will start filming next week. Filming will take around 5 hours. Hopefully, it doesn't take longer than that. We have all the equipment we need. We are going to use an iPhone 12 to film. We will have food and water available. We checked the schedule. Publix will be open on the day we need to film. My group member who had covid is all better now. She got tested twice. Luckily it came out negative both times. We will be filming at Vanessa's house first. Then we will go to Publix. Hopefully, we are able to go to Publix before they close. If anything we can just film the last few scenes the next day. The schedule is on track. Everything should be done by next week.

Production Blog: Creating the Website

Image
Hello, welcome back to my blog! My group and I have really gotten into the meaty part of this final task. To create our website, it took a few tries. At first, we debated endlessly about what picture to choose. Most likely, we will change this picture. Probably by the time we finish the short film. The website we used to create our website was Wix. It was really cool and easy to use. They had multiple layouts. Of course, some were at a charge but we stayed in the free section. We were able to design it to where it would be easy for our audience to learn stuff about the movie easily. We were also able to link our social media to the website which is really cool. Over time we plan to add much more to the website. We want to add pictures of the cast. Along with behind the scenes shots. We also added a section with testinmonials from different blogs. We are very excited to continue to add new things to our blog. As we continue to film, we will add behind the scenes videos along with ...

Production Blog: Creating the Postcard

Image
Hello viewers! My group and I are continuously working on our final task. So far we have completed the website along with the postcard. Creating the postcard was no hassle. We used Canva. Canva is a website that has features that allow you to create postcards. Along with flyers, Instagram stories, Facebook posts, and videos. To create the postcard, we first had to find a picture that matches the theme of our film. We ended up deciding on a curved road. We choose this because, within the film, the reason why she keeps repeating her life is that she needs to change what she does on the curved road. For the back of the postcard, we decided that our film should be presented at the manors film festival. We choose this location because our school is in Wilton manors. Also, we choose the address of a park near our school. The park that we choose actually does show film throughout the year sometimes so it is actually realistic. We choose dates that are around the time that our blog will b...

Production Blog: Scheduling

Hello fellow viewers! We have hit quite the road bump in our filming. One of our group members got covid. She got it while we were on winter break. She got it from a family member. Due to the fact that she has covid, we cant film. we always put the health of each other first. So, we cannot film right now. To film, we have to go to each other's house. We also have to go to Publix. Along with filming the main character driving. When my partner gets better, we will begin filming. I am excited to film. We will probably start filming after the 18th of January. By then our group members will be better. We will first film at Vanessa's house. We need to film the first few scenes there. Then, we will film at Publix. I believe that it will take up to 1-2 days to film our film. to edit it may take 2-3 days. Overall, we are on track. I believe we will be able to finish everything that we need to!
